Public Health Administration

The Public Health Administration is considered one of the important pillars of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, for the great impact of its activities in maintaining the health and safety of the human and the environment. The Municipality Department have sought since its inception to create a section that specializes in public health and provided it with all means to help it fulfill its role in the protection of community members from diseases transmitted through contaminated environmental elements such as water, food and air, as maintaining public health is a goal all nations seek to achieve because health is the most valuable asset of humans, and humans are the most valuable asset of the country.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Maintaining the overall health of the community members.
  2. Protect the environment from pollution.
  3. Ensure the safety of food offered in markets, whether imported or manufactured locally.
  4. Increase consumer confidence in food quality and safety.
  5. Ensure water quality and safety.
  6. Increase the level of health awareness among all members of society.
  7. Promote local industry.
  8. Protect consumers from fraud.
  9. Implementation of laws and regulations relating to environmental health, food etc.
  10. Gain satisfaction of members of the community and raise the level of services provided to them.

Food Control Section

The food control is known as the process of controlling and inspecting of food and its products to ensure they meet the pre-defined standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Protection of consumers from infectious and epidemic diseases and food poisoning transmitted to them through food, water and their products, and to guide them and make them aware of the ways to maintain public health and community health.
  2. The application of the approved standard specifications and the law of fraud and deceit suppression in commercial transactions.
  3. Prevent trading of contaminated food and the food unfit for human consumption in the markets and shops, and confiscate and destroy it.
  4. Inspection of various types of food establishments to ensure the compliance with the specifications of health and safety laws.
  5. Raise awareness of the health of workers in the food processing industry as well as the consumers.  
  6. The observation of workers at the food establishments to make sure that they have a health certificate proving they are free from infectious diseases.
  7. Monitor the food imported from abroad and take samples for analysis to make sure it conforms to the standard specifications before releasing from customs.
  8. Control exported food to make sure its fit for human consumption.

  1. Granting approval to polluting professional and industrial facilities after ensuring their commitment to environmental regulations.
  2. Ensure the compliance of factories, shops and housing units to the conditions of maintaining the health and safety of the environment.
  3. Implementation of the protecti​on and development of environment law No. 24 of 1999.
  4. Flying insects control within an agenda intended to cover all areas of the Emirate.
  5. Comprehensive control of insects.
  6. Rodent control in ports, on the Corniche, in their locations within a plan prepared for this purpose.
  7. ​Distribution of rodent poisons on the public free of charge.
