Ras Al Khaimah Municipality was formed in 1959 pursuant to an Emiri Decree. In its earliest years the municipality took on great responsibility, facilitating additional services, such as that of Land, Ports, and Traffic Departments. The Municipality ensures a clean and pollution-free environment and a decent life for the people of RAK, providing them with health and safety and keeping pace with the global development and progress in the field of municipal work. In the mid-1960s RAK Municipality advanced its administrative structure, creating multiple departments and sections to better serve the tasks assigned to the Municipality.
The Municipality’s organizational structure was developed to keep abreast of RAK’s economic, urban, commercial, and environmental development. Later, the Municipality remit expanded further, requiring the establishment of new departments. A masterplan for the Municipality was developed, including its Vision, Mission, Values, and Strategic Objectives, with an organizational structure also developed. In the context of RAK Government’s desire to apply the latest methods to provide and enable services to citizens and businesses, and in line with the UAE’s development and growth, all Municipality sections have been electronically linked to ensure speed and quality of all procedures, utilizing cutting-edge technology.
Through technological progress, Municipality customers can now complete transactions using the intelligent services provided on RAK Government’s website, without any need to visit the Municipality’s premises. Customer happiness and facilitating the completion of their transactions are the ultimate goal of the Municipality.
